Circa 1965-66 Gordie Howe Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey

Circa 1965-66 Gordie Howe Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey

Many legends have graced the ice rinks of North America, but there is only one “Mr. Hockey.” This is one of the finest Gordie Howe jerseys to have ever surfaced in the hockey collecting community. Gordie Howe dominated the pre-expansion era NHL with his scoring, his fists, and his strength. The standard by which sustained excellence is measured throughout sports, Gordie Howe has withstood the test of time as one of the greatest hockey players to ever lace up skates. He finished in the top five in NHL scoring for 20 straight seasons and finished his remarkable career with six scoring titles, six MVP awards and four Stanley Cup titles. This Road (white) durene jersey features the Olympic Sporting Goods Detroit tag in the collar above the size 48 fly tag. The inside back collar also has “HOWE” written in blue pen. The dotted-outline surrounding the size 48 tag along with the thinly-spoked Winged Wheel help date this jersey to the mid-1960’s. Two repairs in the front red hem stripe along with several stick marks and paint transfers scattered across the front. Seven repairs are present on the back of the right sleeve. One sizable repair on the left sleeve in the white stripe. Five additional repairs on the back including one on the back right shoulder, two more on the lower right side and two in the red hem stripe. Colorful paint transfers litter both hip areas. Pilling is present inside both sleeves and Howe has added a large vintage signature in 8/10 blue Sharpie. Howe’s famous #9 is sewn onto each sleeve and the back. All origina, solid use, and has preserved in fantastic condition. Truly a Gordie Howe hat trick and worthy of any Hall of Fame caliber collection!
