Circa 1968 Al Kaline Game Used Bat (35")

Circa 1968 Al Kaline Game Used Bat (35")

The added oomph of this bat is that Kaline used it around the time of the '68 season, perhaps during the Tigers' championship run that year when he got so many clutch hits. In fact, Kaline got the biggest hit of the season. It happened when, with the Tigers down 3-1 in games to the Red Sox in the WS, he spanked a 2-run, bases-loaded single, sparking the victory that carried the team to its 7-game comeback triumph. One of the class acts of all time, Kaline was also one of the hardiest, having played 2,834 games played for the Tigers (still a club record), and he lugged bats like this thick-handled, 35-inch truncheon to the plate 10,116 times. Signature model Adirondack "Big Stick" is in perfect display condition with light use and just a few nicks and scratches here and there. Kaline obviously took great care in preserving this bat, which was obtained directly from Al by former teammate Jack Warden.
