Circa 1970 Mickey Mantle Used Coaches Bat (34")
Mickey Mantle hit fielding practice with this baby as the Yankees first base coach in 1970. Wonderful artifact from the final stage of The Mick's Hall of Fame baseball career has loads of contact markings, ball-seam tattoos and streaks on the barrel. The white ash Louisville Slugger "K 55" with Mantle's carved signature would have been part of Mantle's regular season arsenal in 1969 until he suddenly retired just a week before Opening Day. He accepted a job as coach in February 1970. The fungo-marked bat was obtained directly from Mantle by former Tigers pitcher Jack Warden.
