Circa 1971 Rocky Bleier Game Worn Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey
<p>Awe inspiring jersey from Rocky Bleier. A running back for Notre Dame, Bleier played his rookie NFL season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1968. He was then drafted into the United States Army and volunteered for duty in South Vietnam. While on an infantry patrol, Bleier was hit by a bullet in the left leg while on the ground received shrapnel from a grenade in his right leg. He was told his football days were over. Then Steelers owner Art Rooney sent Bleier a postcard reading, "Rock. The Team's not doing well. We need you. Art Rooney." Bleier rejoined the Steelers' training camp in 1970, but couldn't walk. Then in 1971, a possible year that this jersey was worn, against tremendous odds, Bleier rehabilitated his injuries to make it back to playing with the Steelers and became a key part of their 4-time Super Bowl Champions. Bleier wrote a book about his experiences, and is now a noted motivational speaker. Black jersey with white numerals. "Bleier" in gold on back. "20" on front and back. 13 team repairs throughout. Loose threads, green paint transfers on back left shoulder. Blue paint transfers to front numbers. No year tag on tail. Steelers and size 44 Sand-Knit tags on front tail.
