Circa 1977 Yankee Stadium 161st Street Subway Sign
More than just another stop on New York's number 4, D, or B train lines, the 161st street station has played home to baseball royalty as the stopping point for Yankee Stadium. This all-metal 13.5x12" sign bears the simple white street number on a black background, but the piece speaks volumes. There is some denting and light scratches, as it didn't come off that subway pillar on its own. We date this from the mid-1970s, perhaps removed or installed as part of the 1973-74 renovations on the old Stadium.
