Complete Run of Secretariat Programs (21)

Complete Run of Secretariat Programs (21)

Here‚s a jackpot for Secretariat aficionados and collectors: a complete run of programs for the 1973 Triple Crown winner, with 19 of the 21 rating near-perfect, even close to MINT. This is the first time that a set of these has ever been offered in public auctions, and boy was it worth the wait. As far as we know, there are fewer than five of these runs that exist; these originating from a private collection that has been dispersed since the collector has passed away, but it was a goal of his to put this run together. Here‚s the rundown: Kentucky Derby (Stakes record time), Belmont Stakes (record 31-length win), Canadian International, Marlboro Cup, Preakness, Whitney, Aqueduct Gotham Stakes, Arlington Invitational, Woodward, Aqueduct Wood Memorial (2), Belmont Man O‚ War Stakes, Garden State Park, Saratoga (3) and Laurel (folded and written in). The sensational set also includes from 1972: Secretariat‚s first start at Aqueduct, his maiden race at Aqueduct, Belmont Futurity, Belmont-Champagne Stakes, which Secretariat won but was later disqualified. The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame tabbed Secretariat second only to Man O‚ War on the list of the Top 100 racehorses.
