Connie Mack Single-Signed Baseball (PSA)
Official American League (Harridge) ball signed by Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack on the sweet spot. Mack has scripted his name in black fountain pen, with the signature grading 9/10. The date "6/5/46" is written in green ink on the panel directly above Mack's signature. This ball has a unique provenance: it was obtained by our consignor's father when he was eight years old on the date noted, but the circumstances were most unusual. As the story goes, he was attending the a game at Shibe Park with his father when both he and a woman nearby were struck by a foul ball. The woman was badly hurt and had to be transported to the hospital, but our consignor's father's injuries were minor. After the game, A's manager Connie Mack, who felt bad about the incident, came over to check on the boy's condition and then gave him an autographed baseball, which has remained in the family's possession until now. The ball displays moderate soiling and few minor abrasions, indicating that Mack grabbed a game-used ball to sign for our consignor's father. Full LOA from PSA.
