Detroit Tigers Single Signed Baseballs with Donie Bush (5)
No one picked it more often at shortstop than Donie Bush, who was a whiz with the glove during the Dead Ball Era, primarily as a Detroit Tiger. He and four other major leaguers are represented on these single-signed official AL/NL baseballs. Included are: Lewis McAllister (d.1962), Charles Metro (d.2011), Darrel Evans and Rondell White. The Bush, McAllister and Metro balls originate from the Jim Armstrong collection (McAllister is signed to Armstrong) and these three have been shellacked with signatures rating 7/10. The two balls from the more recent vintage are EX with 8/10 signatures. Bush's 1914 totals of 425 putouts and 969 chances remain American League records for shortstops (and the major league record for putouts). He also led the American League in assists by a shortstop on five occasions and holds the major league record with nine triple plays turned.
