Detroit Tigers Stadium Home Plate

Detroit Tigers Stadium Home Plate

Shows great use with dirt and plenty of spike marks. Obtained by long time collector from Detroit Tigers personnel, who removed the plate at the end of the year. Believed to be from the 1970s, Detroit Tigers is written on the front by the collector who received it. Perhaps Hall of Famer Al Kaline scored some runs on it. Perhaps fiery Billy Martin, a Tiger manager during part of the '70s, kicked some dirt on it. Unlike modern days, back in the 1970s, home plates were sometimes used for the entire season. Great piece of Detroit history. A home plate from the now vanished Tiger Stadium, as the Tigers played their last game there at the end of the 1999 season.
