Documented Lock of Marilyn Monroe's Hair from her Hairdresser

Documented Lock of Marilyn Monroe's Hair from her Hairdresser

Lock of hair from Marilyn Monroe. Very well preserved in glass case. Glass case with the hair (1x1.5") and another featuring a photo of Monroe (1x1.5").Comes in a box labeled from her hairdresser Kenneth Battelle, famous as "Mister Kenneth." Batelle was known as the world's first celebrity hairdresser, and in addition to Marilyn Monroe, he counted Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy as his clients. He was a hairdresser, mostly working in New York City, from the 1950s until his death in 2013. The locket, dated "14, June 1959" in the box (approx. 1.75x2.5"). Small photo on top of the box features Kenneth Battelle and Monroe. All of the aforesaid is enclosed in a more recent Nordstrom box (3x3"). Around the time this lock of hair was cut, Marilyn Monroe was involved in making the film "Some Like It Hot," with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, a role that won her a Golden Globe. She passed away in 1962. Marilyn Monroe was far more intelligent and talented than many believe. As she said, "Arthur Miller wouldn't have married me if I had been nothing but a dumb blonde." Monroe was an intelligent woman whose best acting was often in creating her best role - herself. The boxes with the hair and small photos do show their age of their fifty years. The lock of hair represents an amazing American icon who was of significance in film, but with her marriage to Joe DiMaggio and her association with the Kennedy family, she was associated with the highest levels of sports and politics in the heart of the Twentieth Century.
