Early 1970s Rod Gilbert New York Rangers Game Worn Jersey

Early 1970s Rod Gilbert New York Rangers Game Worn Jersey

This exceptional offering is a seldom seen New York jersey of Mr. Ranger himself, Rod Gilbert, the first New York Ranger to have his number retired. Gilbert, a mega-star and leader of the formidable Ranger teams of the '60s and '70s, is a true New York hockey immortal. He played right wing on the famous GAG line with Vic Hadfield and Jean Ratelle and spent his entire career with the Rangers. Having amassed more than 400 goals and over 1000 points in his career, Gilbert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. This is a gorgeous red, white and blue jersey that shows nice wear including blood stains, a testament to Gilbert's competitive fire, and stick marks. There's Gerry Cosby tagging on the collar identifying the jersey as size 48. The jersey dates from the early 1970s, when Gilbert was in full bloom as a professional hockey player. This same jersey fetched over $6,000 a few years back, and Gilbert's legacy hasn't diminished in the slightest.
