Early Unused American League Baseball in Original Box

Early Unused American League Baseball in Original Box

Marvelous, near pristine exemplar of the ball patented on August 9, 1909, and adopted as the official AL ball in 1911, causing a staggering increase in runs (3.6 to 4.6), homers (147 to 198) and average (.243 to .273) -- and writing RIP to the "Dead Ball Era" just in time for Babe Ruth. Reach ball has weathered time beautifully, with scarcely a mark on it. Stamped with the Reach trademark, "Official American League Ball, Made in Canada" and "Warranted The Cork Bender, 9 In., 5 Oz." in blue against a lightly cream colored surface with red and blue seams. Comes in the original box covered with the Reach logo, with some of the original packing paper intact. Ball is NRMT, box is G-VG with some mild damage and tape reinforcement.
