Eddie Collins Chicago White Sox Release Letter from Charles Comiskey
Splendid stationery with red, white and blue with gold embossed logo at the top with the Championship years 1906 and 1917. Addressed to Edward T. Collins" it reads, "Friend Collins: I am in receipt of your letter of November 16th and wish to thank you for the kind expressions contained herein. Enclosed is your notice of Unconditional Release, and I wish you every success in every possible way for the future…Charles A. Comiskey." Signed in mint black ink, this is the letter that marks the end of Eddie's connection with Comiskey and his White Sox. Dated November 23, 1926, the stationery at top has even been changed with Collins' name as manager removed and "Ray W. Schalk" hastily added. Comiskey, whose thriftiness was the real impetus behind the Black Sox Scandal, was too cheap to even make up new stationery. EX-MT.
