Eight Charles Martin Conlon Original Photographs including "Banned" Phil Douglass

Eight Charles Martin Conlon Original Photographs including "Banned" Phil Douglass

Collection of 8 connotative Conlon photos from the 1910s and early 1920's, each with the great shutterbug's copyright stamp and/or signed by him (plus handwritten notes). 1-3) Cream of the crop are three early Conlon's of Harry Davis, the 1B cog of Connie Mack's "$100,000 Infield" in the 1910s. There are two of him in the field with his trusty mitt. One is an incredible A’s pose from 1915 that was published in Liberty Magazine. A stunning A’s shot (a tad light) with marvelous stands in background. There is an incredible 5x6" close-up revealing a pair of hard-staring eyes. This is a killer Conlon, the best of the best. 4) Beautiful 1920s George Uhle bust with Cleveland (great face). 5-6) There are two of Phil Douglass who was banned from baseball for life by Landis. One is a Giants pose 1919-22. The other is a cunning pose with great 1917 “Chicago Cubs” jersey. 7) Amos Strunk pitching pose on the 1915-16 Philadelphia Athletics. 8) Spitball Frank Shellenbach with the 1918 Chicago White Sox. Photos are beautiful overall. The only real damage beyond minor creasing is an Uhle corner chip and Shellenbach part editorial in-painting. O/w strong EX+. Average size is about 7x9”.
