Elden Auker Handwritten Letter w/Glowing Mickey Cochrane Content

Elden Auker Handwritten Letter w/Glowing Mickey Cochrane Content

Glowing content in this 1-page hand written letter by submarine-style pitcher, Elden Auker.  In crisp, clear blue ink, Auker talks of Mickey Cochrane's coming to the Tigers, and being "...a great catcher, great manager, a leader on and off the field and a fine gentleman."  Elden goes on to lament, "In early 1936, "Bump" Hadley of the N.Y. Yankees "Beaned" Mickey and fractured his skull in 8 places.  This virtually ended his career."  He finishes by talking about how Cochrane wasn't able to return to baseball, lost his only son in WWII and "...eventually died of cancer a heartbroken man."  Auker, who was considered one of the greatest all-around athletes in Kansas State history (he was courted by the Chicago Bears) signs off, "Best Wishes Elden Auker".  NRMT.
