Fantastic Ty Cobb Signed Photograph

Fantastic Ty Cobb Signed Photograph

An out of this world piece of Ty Cobb memorabilia. Never has Cobb's always-coveted signature appeared on a scarcer and more fascinating image, made all the more special by its oversized dimensions. At a majestic 10 1/4 x 13 1/2", one can see nearly every wrinkle on Cobb's uniform, every crease on his leather spiked shoes, and practically every line on his clean-shaven face as he takes a cut at a pitch. Cobb's facial expression in particular is remarkable, as it seems his eyes are almost closed. (Remember when Michael Jordan closed his eyes while taking a foul shot? This would seem to put that feat to shame.) Either that or Cobb was such a great hitter that he merely looks bored, letting his body do the work by instinct. By itself, this would be a real Cobb grabber, thus Cobb's signature is the coup de grace -- not to mention one of the nicest Cobbs anywhere, effected in regal-looking black fountain pen and reading, "To Dr. A.H. Whittaker, from Ty Cobb" -- as close to a perfect Cobb as exists. Dr. Whittiaker was the Tigers team physician. Just under the signature is the engraving of "The Detroit News, Detroit, Mich." Photo has sustained mild damage including fold marks and a small piece removed from the left border; however this does not affect Cobb's riveting image, only a part of his bat. A peach, in every conceivable respect. Best Cobb photo on earth.
