February 9, 1964 Ed Sullivan Show Ticket Rejection Card

February 9, 1964 Ed Sullivan Show Ticket Rejection Card

As far as we can ascertain, this is the only known example of the CBS ticket rejection card for the historic first appearance of the Beatles on "The Ed Sullivan Show". There were a reported 40,000 ticket requests for the 728 seats in CBS Studio 50 for the dress rehearsal and live broadcast. How many of these cards were sent out is unknown. Memorabilia from that first performance is almost non-existent. To date, no tickets to the rehearsal or broadcast have ever surfaced in collector's circles! This same card is pictured on page 145 of Mark Lewisohn's "The Complete Beatles Chronicle" as the entire Sluchansky collection was made available to Lewisohn during his research. Printed on textured card stock. Tape residue along the middle top and bottom edges. 7 1/2" x 3 1/2"".
