Federal League 1915 Baseball Composition Doll

Federal League 1915 Baseball Composition Doll

This doll is one of the rarest composition dolls ever offered for sale, for a few very specific reasons. First, this character boy was made by the Elektra Toy and Novelty Company, a company only in business for 8 years (1912-1920). Second, he is dressed in a Federal League uniform. This league only operated as a major league, competing with the American and National Leagues, for two years, from 1914 to 1915. Back of neck is marked, "ELEKTRA.T.NC.NY, Copyright", doll is 31" high and is in excellent condition. He has a composition head, body and limbs are cloth-stuffed with straw. Cloth body and head shows little wear for its age. It is unusual for composition to have no crazing and little wear. The head, arms and legs are jointed with metal discs and the face is painted with rosy cheeks and in beautiful color. You can tell the uniform is original, because of the large size of the chest. The chest is much larger then a regular doll, even one from the same company with the same character face. The uniform is in excellent condition with a few minor stains but nothing significant to detract overall. He is missing his baseball cap and shoes.
