Fights for the Championship of England (1859).
Extremely early U.S. boxing book was published in New York by H. Dexter. Magnificent engraving on the cover of the Champion of England, Tom Sayers. Titled fully,"<i>Tom Sayers His Life & Pugilistic Career from 1740 Down to 1859, Including The Great Fight Between Sayers & Brettle</i>." Was nicely rebound some time at the turn of the century in cloth and suede with title on the spine and is complete with all the original covers and pages. Has been ever so slightly trimmed down but is o/w very good.
