Fort Larned retired from his racing career at the end of the 2013 season as one of the most feared handicap horses in recent history, having won the most prestigious handicap race in the country, the $5,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic. His portfolio also features wins in the Whitney Handicap, Stephen Forster Handicap, Skip Away Stakes, and Cornhusker Handicap and he amassed career earnings of $4,471,322. This heavy duty leather stallion halter with brass nameplate was used by Fort Larned while the Breeders’ Cup champion stood at stud at Adena Springs Farm in Paris, Kentucky. Adena Springs has provided a certificate of authenticity.
