Gertrude Ederle Swims English Channel Negatives (2)

American Gertrude Caroline Ederle was the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926. These two NRMT 4" x 5" negatives, both show Ederle pool side, one with her delicately dipping her toe and the other her finger tips in the water. Ederle won a gold and two bronze medals in the 1924 Paris Olympics. She was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1965.
