Gil Hodge Lengthy Inscribed 4" x 5" Photograph
This 4” x 5" photo of the man perhaps best noted for his playing days with the Brooklyn Dodgers tells an interesting story. The popular first baseman is depicted in a New York Mets' uniform - while Hodges is known for leading the "Miracle Mets" to the 1969 World Championship, his signature on the picture states, "Now a Senator." That would seem to place the picture during his final major league season of 1962, in which he appeared in 54 games wearing Mets pinstripes. He was named manager of the Senators in 1963 and served at the helm until 1967. The following year he was hired to manage the Mets and served in that capacity until his untimely passing in 1972. The signature in blue ink rates 7/10, and the picture is in EX condition.
