Great Horses In A Great Race

This Currier & Ives 1891 lithograph of the famous race held at the Coney Island Jockey Club's racetrack on June 25, 1890 was described by the famous Old Print Shop, when purchased, as the finest example of this print they had handled with prices averaging $4,000+ when available. The race was between Salvator, with Isaac Murphy up, and Tenny, ridden by "Snapper" Garrison. The image dimensions are 18.1" x 28" followed by six lines of descriptive data. Poster measures 31x23" overall. The gorgeous print is unframed and contained in a matted protective cover (35x27"). NM.
