Grey Leg Horseshoe and Strirrup

Grey Leg Horseshoe and Strirrup

This 1895 Ascot Horseshoe from the All Aged Stakes sports an original inscription that it was won by the celebrated "Grey Leg." The All Aged Stakes was inaugurated in 1868, becoming the Cork and Orrey stakes in 1926. In 2002 it was renamed the Golden Jubilee Stakes as a Group I, and in 2012 it was again renamed to the Diamond Jubilee Stakes to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's long reign. One of the earlier horseshoes and stirrup you will see.
