Griffith Stadium Home Locker Room Folding Chair
Parts of Griffith Stadium dated to 1891, and the ballpark was rebuilt in 1911 after a fire. This folding wooden chair is from the collection of Sam Mele, former Senators player, coach and later manager of the Twins (the renamed and relocated Senators). A Letter of Authenticity from Mele states that he removed the chair from the home team locker room and used it in his Washington apartment. The chair is vintage, and was likely used for many years at the Stadium before Mele appropriated it. The chair measures 16 1/2” wide x 33” in height, and has some paint spots, worn areas and small cracks, but is in overall EX condition.
