<p>Collection of horse racing awards, spanning the years 1959 to 1984, presented to noted thoroughbred race horse trainer John Elliott Burch or a member of his family. J. Elliott Burch (1924-2011) comes from a long line of horse trainers. Both his father, Preston M. Burch, and grandfather, William P. Burch were inducted into the American National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and J. Elliott followed them into the Hall of Fame in 1980. Highlights include Burch's Hall of Fame plaque and several sterling silver pieces.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>1) </strong>J. Elliott Burch Racing Hall of Fame Plaque. Presented to Burch upon his election to the Hall of Fame in 1980. This plaque is identical to the one that hangs in the Hall of Fame. The plaque (13x17"), composed of wood and metal, features a lengthy list of of Burch's major accomplishments lettered in relief. EX, with moderate wear. <strong>2) </strong>1959 Sterling Silver Presentation Box.&nbsp; Engraving on the lid reads "Elliott Burch/From/The N.Y. Turf Writers' Association/For Outstanding Training In/1959. Three wooden compartments. Stamped "Sterling" on the underside. 10x3.5x1.25" VG, with several scratches. <strong>3)</strong> 1959 Silver-Colored "The Travers" Award. The engraving on the lid of the box reads "New York Racing Association/The Travers/Saratoga/1959/Won By/Brookmeade Stable's Sword Dancer/Trainer J. Elliott Burch." Two wooden compartments. Not marked "sterling" but various hallmarks on the exterior and interior. 7.5x3.5x2.5". VG, with several scratches, nicks, and tiny indentations. <strong>4)</strong> 1959 Silver-Plated Presentation Box. The engraved lid reads "Phila. Sportswriters Ass'n/56th Banquet/Elliott Burch/Trainer of 1959." Two wooden compartments. Engraving on the underside reads "EPCA Poole Silver Co. 2001." 7.5x3.5x1.75".&nbsp;VG, with several scratches, nicks, and tiny indentations. <strong>5)</strong> 1963 Sterling Silver Presentation Cup. The engraving on the side of the handled cup reads "R. M. B./7-22-63." Stamped "Sterling" on the underside. Base diameter: 2.25". Height: 3.5". EX. 6) 1963 Sterling Silver Presentation Cup. The engraving on the side of the cup reads "R. M. B." Stamped "Sterling" on the underside, along with the engraved date "7-22-63" and "Trees." Base diameter: 2.25". Height: 3". EX.&nbsp; <strong>7) </strong>1974 Sterling Silver Presentation Cup. The engraving on the side of the cup reads "Keeneland/Spinster Stakes/1974/Summer Guest." (Summer Guest was trained by J. Elliott Burch.) Stamped "Sterling" on the underside, along with an engraving that reads "Mark J. Scearce Shelbyville Kentucky." Base diameter: 2.5 inches. Height: 3.75". <strong>8)</strong> 1980 Gold-Colored Presentation Plate. The engraving in the center reads "New York Racing Association/The Rosetown/Aqueduct/1980/Won By/Phyllis H. Burch's/In Our Time." (Phyllis Burch was John Burch's wife.) Diameter: 11". Appears to be gold plated. VG, with loss of plating on the reverse. <strong>9)</strong> 1982 Crystal Presentation Vase. The lettering on the front features the New York Racing Association logo, below which it reads "The Suburban/Belmont/1982/Won By/C. V. Whitney's/Silver Buck/Trainer E. Burch." Stamped "Baccarat France" on the underside. Base diameter: 2.75". Height: 7". NR-MT. <strong>10) </strong>1984 Sterling Silver "The Pegasus" Award. The engraving on the lid of the box reads "The Meadowlands/The Pegasus/$200,000 Added/September 15th 1984/Won By/C. V. Whitney's/Hail Bold King/Trainer: William E Burch." Two wooden compartments. Stamped "Towle Sterling" on the underside. 6.75x3.75x1.5". VG, with a few light indentations. <strong>11)</strong> Undated Sterling Silver Cup. The engraving on the handled cup reads "John Elliott Burch." Stamped "Sterling" on the underside. Base diameter: 3". Height: 2.25". GD, with a few heavy indentations.</p>
