High Grade & All Original 1888 Darktown Battery Mechanical Bank
An incredible example: certainly the best we have ever handled. This "Dark Town Battery" mechanical bank is the original version dating from 1888. It is easily distinguished from later versions & reproductions, which were called "Home Town Battery." Unlike most of its contemporaries, this bank has not been restored. It has all original paint, the original metal stopper, the original and unbroken bat and is in good working order. To work the bank, place the coin in the pitchers hand and pull back his arm. Then, push the button next to the catcher to release the pitchers arm and activate the bat and coin slot: the coin will be tossed into the slot
