Historic George Brace Photograph Collection (425+)
Photographer George Brace, who apprenticed under sports-photo legend George Burke, worked the baseball scene for upwards of 65 years. This spectacular lot consists of 425+ of his photos, with the majority of them signed by Brace on the back. These photos came from the original negatives, and include: 21 photos from 1927 Yankees, 15 photos from 1961 Yankees, nearly 400 photos of every single Hall of Famer up until the early 2000s, an array of images that is hard to match. Some of the better stars include Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Carl Yastrzemski, Hank Aaron and Stan Musial. A few Hall of Fame League Commissioners, Umpires and Negro League players are also in the collection. The photos are stamped with copyright Brace sticker on back and the majority are signed. Brace did his work both professionally and as a hobby, and his passion for the sport of baseball shines through in each vivid snapshot.
