Hoard of Ken Hubbs Autographs (10 signatures)

Hoard of Ken Hubbs Autographs (10 signatures)

From charming to bittersweet, these 10 signatures (all originating from his family archives) span the Chicago Cub second baseman Ken Hubbs’ too short young life. After just three Major League seasons (1961-63), and picking up 1962’s National League Rookie of the Year, Hubbs died tragically in an airplane crash in Utah during the off-season in February, 1964. With the exception of one Arizona hotel stationery signed “Ken Hubbs” (signature is a 9/10, complete with room number, total of bill, and marked “Paid 3-16-62” in someone else’s hand), these items are a personal testament to the teenager Hubbs, with the bulk of signatures jotted on high school work. These include 11 pages of his school work, 6 of which are signed at the top, one is signed twice. Three signatures are in pen, the rest in pencil. Signatures are at least 8/10. Also two pages of handwritten school work signed at the top "Kenneth Hubbs". Signature and writing are 9/10. Most heartbreaking is a photo postcard of Ken from 1961, sent to his grandmother, and written on the back by him. It is signed "Ken," and is EX.
