Honus And His Boys Photos (His Writing On Back)

Honus And His Boys Photos (His Writing On Back)

His stats delighted his young fans...batting .300 or more for 17 consecutive seasons...722 stolen bases...seven time winner of the National League batting crown. Kids loved Pittsburgh Pirates (and Louisville Colonels) shortstop superstar Honus Wagner, and the Flying Dutchman loved ‘em back! This collection shows an affectionate side of the Hall of Famer, we have rarely seen before. Here’s a remarkable collection of two cardboard mounted black and white photos showing “Honus and the Kids” which just happens to be the pencil written caption title on the reverse side of one photo along with the words, “Wagner’s love for boys was one side of his great popularity.” According to another caption on the back of the second photo, the posed kids are from a boys home in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The third and unmounted photo shows a relaxed Wagner in a closer shot with himself and the boys. The NRMT photo measures 8” x 10”. Each of the mounted photos measures 5” x 7” with a total mounted measurement of 8” x 10”. The background of the photos show street in downtown Dawson Springs. Note the well-dressed men watching the scene--obviously not an every day activity in town! These unusual Honus Wagner collectibles are ready for framing.
