Jack Dempsey Signed Restaurant Menu
Jack Dempsey was a mamouth figure in the boxing ring throughout his famed career. Known as "The Manassa Mauler" he amassed sixty victories, fifty by KO and was the World Heaveyweight Champion. He was no lightweght in the entertainment and restaurant business. His famous bar and grill in the shadow of the old Madison Square Garden drew the rich and famous. He also opened a restuarant in Boston. On opening night, a stellar crowd gathered to kick off his new venue. Presented is a menu from that night signed by Jack and some of his many cronies. These signatures signed in pencil, rate a solid 9. They include:Boston Mayor James Curley, radio celebrity Major Bowes, actors William Gaxton and George Bancroft, crooner Rudy Valle, boxers Benny Leonard and Primo Canera and Hannah Dempsey. A great slice of boxing lure dated February 17, 1935.
