This is a group items pertaining to the first African-American heavyweight champion, Jack Johnson. The first is a rare, souvenir poster advertising Johnson's heavyweight championship battle with Fireman Jim Flynn in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1912. This original poster, copyrighted in 1912, pictures Johnson and Flynn and notable black fighters of the era including: McVey, Dixon, Gans, Langford, Jeannette, Godfrey and Gains. Poster is paper with bold color, no creases with chipping at edges. The second is artwork of Johnson on board in full fight pose. 20th century painting (likely not vintage to Johnson's era), with bold color, no creasing and clean. 16x20" with no artist signature.
