Jackie Robinson's Personal Script for The Jackie Robinson Story
Rarely do you see the personal script for the star of any film, let alone a baseball film. And someone of the stature of Jackie Robinson is next to impossible. 250+ page script includes all of importance for this 1950 film. An excellent film that is often seen on video (a steady seller), it was a pointed narrative of this intriguing piece of social history. It co-starred Ruby Dee as Rachel Robinson and Minor Watson as Branch Rickety. Script has been beautifully rebound. EX.The First. And, without question, the most significant man to ever play the game of baseball. The man who broke baseball’s color line, Jackie Robinson was also the first African-American to win the Most Valuable Player Award and the first to be honored as Rookie of the Year (the award is now named for him). He is also the only baseball player, black or white, to be on a United States postage stamp and minted coin and the first African-American to be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame (in 1962 he was elected in his first year of eligibility, the first since Lou Gehrig in 1939). While Babe Ruth changed the way in which we played the game, Jackie changed the way we think.
