Jackie Robinson No. 42 Sign from Upper Deck Retired Player Numbers Section

Jackie Robinson No. 42 Sign from Upper Deck Retired Player Numbers Section

Baseball-shaped sign with the profoundly important number “42” honors Jackie Robinson, whose number was retired by Major League Baseball in 1997 – the 50th anniversary of his breaking the color line in the game with the Brooklyn Dodgers. In a heartfelt tribute, the Cardinals added Jackie’s number in red to the team’s retired-numbers section in the right-centerfield upper deck, in effect making Robinson an honorary Cardinal. The hand-painted sign that was mounted on a step in the middle of the back wall of the retired-number section is made from painted plywood and is – fittingly – 42” in diameter. EX condition. <br>(Estimate $500 - $1,000)
