In 1943, when Jimmie Foxx was long past his hitting prime, he took the job as manager of the Rockford Peaches in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League -- though the grizzled, hard-drinking Foxx may not have known exactly where he was. The story became well known when Tom Hanks played a character based on Foxx in "A League of Their Own". While the flick over-romanticizes the hate-turned-love relationship between Foxx and the women, he did pay tribute to one real-life Peach, Alice Pollitt, who got this signed photo inscribed, "Alice, you are a swell gal and a very fine friend. Sincerely, Jimmie Foxx". Signature in black ink is NRMT and mounted in a silver edged frame that has on the back 2 photos of Pollitt with other Peaches.
