Jimmy Connors Tennis Photographs from SFX Archives (300+)
Before the days of Andy Roddick and Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors was the reigning champion of U.S. men's tennis. This collection of 300+ photos spans the great player's long and outstanding career including photos from the late 1960's when he was the Boys 16 top seed to the early 1990's when he played mostly exhibition matches. His playing career peaked in the mid-1970's through the early 1980's and 80% of the collection of both wire and laser wire photos focuses on this period. There are a few copies of the iconic image of Connors and then fiance, Chris Evert holding their respective trophies as Men's and Women's Wimbeldon Champions of 1974. 70% of the photos capture game time action shots and the rest are publicity and off-court photographs. The photos range in size from 7 x 9" to 8 x 10" with some odd sized photos, 90% are 8 x 10". The quality of the collection is 20% G, 50% VG and 30% EX. Many of the images have the original news clippings attached to the verso.
