Joe Cronin and Ted Williams Dual-Signed Baseball (PSA)
Presented is a signed baseball which pairs the signatures of two great Boston Red Sox Hall of Famers, Ted Williams and Joe Cronin. Ted Williams played 19 Major League seasons, all with the Boston Red Sox. The leftfielder was a marvelous hitter who hit a lifetime 344, and he won six batting titles. The Splendid Splinter was a 2-time MVP and a 2-time Triple Crown winner. Williams hit .406 in 1941, the last Major League player to have hit .400. Williams served as a U.S. Marine pilot in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, and he missed a total of nearly five seasons because of his military service. Joe Cronin played in the Major Leagues for 20 seasons, but he earned most of his fame for the 11 years he played for the Boston Red Sox. A shortstop, Cronin had power when it was very unusual for a middle infielder to hit home runs. Cronin hit .301 for his career and crashed 170 home runs. Cronin was a playing manager for 13 seasons and worked solely as a manager for another two seasons. He was also a general manager for the Red Sox and the President of the American League. Connie Mack praised Cronin when Mack stated, "With a man on third and one out I'd rather have Cronin hitting for me than anybody I've seen, and that includes Cobb, Simmons and the test of them." The dual-signed ball is a Rawlings Official American League Ball (MacPhail). The baseball shows slight toning but is very nice. Williams used a fine-tipped marker to write in black ink on the sweet spot and his signature is 9/10, and Cronin signed on a side panel is blue fine-tipped marker, and Cronin's signature is 8/10. Having the signatures of these two great Red Sox on one baseball is a seldom seen combination and an exciting and prized opportunity for any collector. The signed ball comes with a PSA LOA.
