Joe DiMaggio Hall of Fame Watch Presented by Boston Red Sox May 7, 1955
Elegant Lord Elgin gold watch with leather band was presented to Joe DiMaggio by the Boston Red Sox on May 7, 1955 to celebrate his induction into the Hall of Fame. 12 red letters around the face represent the numbers 1-12, spelling out, "Boston Red Sox" with the words "Baseball Hall of Fame" in the center in black lettering. Back of the gold face is engraved, "May 7, 1955 Joe DiMaggio." A few months after he was presented with the watch, DiMaggio gave it as a gift to close personal friend and confidant, Paul "Skinny" D'Amato, owner of the world famous 500 Club in Atlantic City. It was "Skinny" who would break the news to Joe D. about the death of his ex-wife, Marilyn Monroe. Watch is in Excellent shape, presented in its original Lord Elgin case (one of the hinges is broken). Included is an LOA from the daughter of Paul D'Amato attesting to the above and photo documentation of D'Amato at various functions with DiMaggio.
