Joe Jackson Vintage Photograph Circa 1911

Joe Jackson Vintage Photograph Circa 1911

An exceptional image from Jackson's earliest days in Cleveland is a previously unknown image and specimen. Possibly spring training 1911 based on the primitive ballpark and his youthful appearance. Measures 4" x 3 7/8" and is first generation - 100% vintage from the period it was taken. We have preserved the original and early archive stamp on the verso of the thick paper. This was originally mounted on, and then removed archivally. It's a dazzling image of Shoeless Joe at bat, taken by a master baseball photographer such as Louis Van Oeyen or a very good one that got lucky. He dances at the bat in an unusual, delightfully posed cameo. The recent appearance of this, along with the Wagner, Lajoie and Cobb T206 poses in this auction, was a hobby revelation. Fresh to the market, and one of the top Jackson images
