Joe Romo's 1972 Oakland A's World Championship Ring
After a 40-year hibernation period, baseball’s original great dynasty, the Athletics, finally made it back to the Fall Classic. Despite vintage Pete Rose and the clutch hitting of the future Big Red Machine, the Cincinnati Reds could not overcome the deep pitching staff of the Oakland Athletics, boasting 21game-winner Catfish Hunter. Offered is the 10K World Championship ring presented to an A's trainer (1969-81) following the team's inspiring performance. The top is oval emerald with original cubic zirconium (the CZ is the stone adorning all rings presented to the non-players-this was ordered by Charles Finley who had notoriously tight pockets). Circling is text that reads “1972 World Champions” in raised letters. On the right shank is “Oakland A’s-Romo”, on the left shank is “World Series A’s 4, Reds 3” with “Charles Finley” banner and “S+S=S.” “Joe Romo” engraved in script on the inside of the ring. Size 12. EX-MT condition.
