John Warde Jumps from the Hotel Gotham (2)

Two press photos showing the result of John William Warde who jumped from a window ledge of the seventeenth floor of the Gotham Hotel in Manhattan (NYC). His eleven hour dilemma before jumping held three hundred NYPD officers at bay, afraid of making a move. The tragedy was later made into the 1951 film “Fourteen Hours” starring Richard Basehart. One is a 1938 issue showing him on the street in a pool of blood and the other a 1949 printing of him hitting the hotel marquee. One corner clip o/w EX-MT. 7x9”.
