Jose Santos Personal Funny Cide Collection

Jose Santos Personal Funny Cide Collection

Jockey Jose Santos made his fame aboard thoroughbred Funny Cide, winning both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness in 2003. Ironically, while Funny Cide was the first New York bred horse to win the historic Derby, it was a third place finish at the Belmont Stakes in NY that dashed his Triple-Crown hopes. This lot includes a framed poster made exclusively for Santos which was actually made from Funny Cide's stall at Saratoga. Autographs include Jose Santos, trainer Barclay Tagg, and all of Funny Cide's owners. The poster also includes a horseshoe worn by the champion horse. Lot also includes the unique halter worn by Funny Cide and his sire, Distorted Humor as well as the Jose Santos whip used on Funny Cide in the inaugural maiden breaking race of his career. A great collection of items from racing history. Includes LOA.
