Kid Nichols Signed Black-and-White Hall of Fame Postcard PSA MINT 9
Kid Nichols Hall of Fame black-and-white postcard (Albertype Type 2), signed by Nichols in blue ink along the top border. PSA has encapsulated the card and graded the signature MINT 9. Nichols' signature on a Hall of Fame postcard is rare due to timing. Nichols was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1949, but he died in 1953, leaving collectors with a very narrow four-year window in which to obtain his signature on this card. This is the first such example we have ever offered and we have seen few others at auction in the past twenty years. This particular card might also be the last one Nichols ever signed because the reverse bears a typed message from the original recipient that is dated "Feb. 13, 1953. Nichols died on April 11, 1953, just two months after he received this card. The card displays the aforementioned typewritten letter on the reverse, light corner wear, and a few tiny, scattered surface marks. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
