Kirby Puckett Signed Louisville Slugger Model P339 Bat
Kirby Puckett played his entire 12-year Major League career, from 1984-95, with the Minnesota Twins. The Hall of Fame center fielder was only 5'8", but he never let his height hold him back. Presented is a Louisville Slugger Genuine Model P339 Kirby Puckett Minnesota Twins bat made specifically for signing but near identical to what he used in games. Puckett was a 10-time All-Star, a 6-time Gold Glove winner, a 6-time Silver Slugger, an AL batting champion, and a 2-time World Series winner. Kirby is the Minnesota Twins' career leader in hits, runs, doubles and total bases. He finished his career with 207 homers, 2,304 hits and a lifetime .318 average. Upon his retirement after the 1995 season, Puckett's .318 batting average was the highest for any right-handed American League batter since that of Joe DiMaggio. Puckett retired at only age 36 because of his developing glaucoma. The bat has a length of 34.25" and weighs 32.75 ounces. Etched into the barrel is "GENUINE P339, Kirby Puckett" (in script as a facsimile signature) and "Minnesota Twins." The bat has a black finish and is NRMT, while Puckett's silver Sharpie signature on the barrel is 8/10. Puckett passed away in 2006, at only 45 years old. His career is a testament to his inner drive. Puckett explained his success in saying, "I was told I would never make it because I'm too short, but I'm still too short and I'm a 10-time All-Star and a 2-time World Series Champion, and I'm a very happy and contented guy. It doesn't matter what your height is, it's what's in your heart." The offered signed Kirby Puckett bat makes a great remembrance for one of the Minnesota Twins' all-time greats.
