Large Collection of Stan Musial Signed Bank Checks (1590)
Stan Musial was money. And this lot will provide a little insight as to how he spent his own. A 24-time All-Star and lifetime .331 hitter ranks as one of the elite players of his or any sport, and this cool collection of mostly personal checks originate from the Musial estate and feature: "Stan or Lillian Musial" at the tops of each. All personal checks are signed "Stanley Musial" and most are filled out in Stan's own hand, There are also a handful of "Stan the Man" checks simply signed "Stan Musial." A handful of them are made out to "Cash" and also endorsed on the backs by Stan. They range in date from 1972 to 1997 with most being from the 1980s and 1990s. Overall, the checks are EX condition, with the signatures and writing averaging 8/10. This is a great investment with superb breakdown value. Musial led the Cardinals to three World Series championships within a five-year span during the mid-1940s and was one of the most consistently excellent hitters of all-time, as evidenced by the highly unusual feat of recording 1,815 hits at home and 1,815 on the road.
