Large Group of League Park Original Drawings and Plans (70)

Large Group of League Park Original Drawings and Plans (70)

Though it's been gone for more than 60 years, Cleveland's League Park may have been home to more professional sports teams than any other venue. Tenants there in the first half of the 20th Century included the National League's Cleveland Spiders, the Western League Cleveland Lakeshores, American League Cleveland Bluebirds/Blues, Cleveland Broncos/Bronchos, Cleveland Naps and Cleveland Indians, and the Negro American League Cleveland Buckeyes. The doors initially opened in 1891, but a major renovation began in 1910, and these original drawings on velum serve as the blueprints from the 1909-10 era, the time at which the Park was rebuilt as a concrete-and-steel structure, abandoning an all-wood base. These plans from the Osborne Engineering Co. are in VG condition overall with tremendous breakdown potential. Interestingly, some remnants of the ballpark still remain, 62 years after it was demolished.
