Last Concert at the Wetlands 9/10/01 Site Poster
The happy images on this color-splashed poster with revelers dancing the night away seem to morph into a sad gray by the context of the poster itself. From the Wetlands nightclub at 161 Hudson Street not far from the World Trade Center, it bills acts appearing on September 9th and 10th, 2001 -- the latter the last "happy" night before the destruction of September 11, 2001 forced the club to close. The 22 x 33" poster was on site at the club, under glass, and was taken out the next day, and it is a nearly pristine yet haunting reminder of how lower Manhattan -- and America as well -- changed on that day. .
