Led Zeppelin Earliest Known Signatures
An unbelievable find. Here is a grouping of four individually signed sheets of paper from the time of only their second show ever, in Gothenburg, Sweden on September 15, 1968 -- and still being billed as the “New Yardbirds”, their original name. Each is signed by one of the four original and only members of the band that invented heavy metal: Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham & John Paul Jones. We know of no earlier examples of their signatures. Ink is NRMT; pages are overall EX (each about 4 x 2.25”). Of historical note, they would become Led Zeppelin at their Surrey University show the following month. This amazing lot comes with an 11 x 8.5” Danish newspaper advertisement from the show, in which they are listed erroneously as simply the "Yardbirds", with vintage writing of the same fan who obtained these signatures in person. The ad is EX and is mounted with each individual signature in a MT 8 x 10" frame with an Atlantic Records promotional photo, possibly the earliest of them after becoming Led Zeppelin.
