Lou Gehrig Signed Album Page (PSA)

Lou Gehrig Signed Album Page (PSA)

Presented is a hobby fresh Lou Gehrig signed album page that the "Iron Horse" has neatly signed in a big and bold signature in blue fountain pen. Gehrig broke in with the Yankees for a few games in 1924 and '25, played regularly in '26 and hit his full stride in 1927, the real beginning of the Yankees' famed "Murderers' Row" lineup. The Yankees teams of the late 1920s had an amazing batting order, particularly the first six men in their regular lineup, which featured Babe Ruth batting third and Lou Gehrig hitting right behind Ruth in the clean-up spot. Imagine the dilemma of an opposing pitcher as he faced Ruth. Give Ruth a decent pitch and the Bambino could crash it out of the ballpark, but walk Ruth and Gehrig came to bat. The marvelous Gehrig in '27 hit .373, with 49 home runs and 173 RBIs, and Lou was there day-after-day, not missing a game in between June 1, 1925, and April 29, 1939, 2,130 consecutive games, the longtime MLB record until broken by Cal Ripken Jr. in 1995. Gehrig was a 2-time American League MVP, a 7-time World Series Champion, and a Triple Crown winner, with a .340 lifetime batting average and 493 home runs, in a career and life cut short by ALS disease. The album page measures 4.4x5.3", and over the years the page has darkened somewhat because of the passage of years. The signed album page has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
