Man 'O War Horseshoe w/Impeccable Provenance from Samuel Riddles Faraway Breeding Farm - Greatest Race Horse Ever!

A rare chance to own a piece of sports royalty, this framed horseshoe was worn by Man O'War, considered by many to be the greatest thoroughbred of all time. Contained in original frame and display measuring 12x23", this shoe comes from after his storied career came to a close, and is mounted along with an illustration of the stallion and description of the item.The shoe was sent from Charile Gribbens at Faraway Breeding Farm to James Lyle "Lucky" Miller of Clifton Heights from Lexington, KY. There is a letter attached from the individual who gifted the item to Old Friends Equine Retirement on 12-18-2009, stating the horseshoe's provenance in relation to their family member, Lucky Miller and how it was handed down. Originally the proceeds from this item went to Old Friends, toward the continued care of retired race horses. Old Friends is a 501c3 non-profit retirement and rescue facility for pensioned thoroughbreds and is the only rescue/retirement facility that accepts thoroughbred stallions, as well as geldings and mares. Includes Hall of Fame Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Dubai World Cup winners.Man O' War's legend remains to this day, running far ahead in most of his 21 races during his career, but also for his progeny which included the likes of War Admiral and Secretariat. He was named the top horse of the 20th century by Associated Press, and as well as the Greatest Horse in Racing History by Sports Illustrated.
